Budget

We are faced with a 17 BILLION DOLLAR deficit, which is only growing worse by the day. Yet, instead of looking for ways to cut waste and bureaucratic excesses, our legislature has proposed more than 25 billion dollars of NEW TAXES, while backing the scare tactics of decrying how we’ll be forced to cut teachers and abandoning education and other vital services for our young, old, and infirm.

California already pays among the highest taxes in the nation, while we receive the fewest services for those tax dollars. Our legislature fails to recognize the severity of their continuing spending problems. High taxes depress, and will kill our economy, drives companies and jobs from our state, and hinders our livelihood. We need to - and can - find ways to cut taxes while cutting wasteful spending… we need to - and can - find ways to receive value for what we pay for… we need to - and can - encourage companies to return to California with new and higher paying jobs.

As a businessman and the chief financial officer of a moderate sized company, I know how to read a balance sheet and create a balanced budget. With your help and support, I will demand to see the state’s true budget numbers, not just the misleadingly redacted recaps most legislators are given, including backup and source material to find just where the money is going. I will work hard to rein in the waste and cut the duplication. I will call for an end to the redundant commissions and ‘study groups’ which serve only to provide an income to retired politicians. I will subject waste and unnecessary regulations to the spotlight of public opinion to force long overdue changes on how our elected officials spend our money… With your support, I will work hard to create the framework for a leaner, more efficient State government.
