I am a supporter of LEGAL immigration – we are first and
foremost a nation of immigrants. And I fully support those who respect
our laws and come to the United States for a better life. Too often, the
illegal immigration problem is allowed to be framed as an ‘immigration
rights’ issue.
Illegal immigration is perhaps the single biggest issue currently facing
our State. Only when we regain control of our borders can we fully address
the problems facing education, crime and gang violence, healthcare, and
certainly the budget. The truth is, illegal immigration impacts a large
spectrum of problems facing our great state from housing to the environment.
Many Californians believe in tall fences and wide gates. We must make
illegal immigration more difficult while encouraging LEGAL immigration.
And I will work to accomplish just that.
With your help and support, I will work hard not only to see that existing
laws against hiring illegals by predatory companies WILL be enforced.
I will work hard to strengthen and defend those laws, much as has been
done so successfully in Arizona.
